"The example of the pious companion and the bad companion is like that of the seller of musk and the blacksmith. For the musk seller, either he’ll give you some, or you’ll buy some from him, or you’ll get an agreeable whiff from him. And for the blacksmith, either he’ll burn your clothes or you’ll get a bad smell from him." [Bukhari, Muslim].

Building on this foundation, we are also inspired from the wisdom of the esteemed scholar Ibn Al Qayyim. He described perfumes as comforts to the heart and soul, noting their profound ability to uplift spirits and foster positive relationships. Ibn Al Qayyim mentioned that a beautiful fragrance does more than please the senses, it boosts social interactions, promotes mental and emotional well-being, and serves as a symbol of hospitality and generosity.

Our Story
A brand born out of passion and creativity. In 2013, French perfumer Anthony Marmin, also known as Abdul Karim Al Faransi, and his spouse Farhiya Bashir Hussein founded the brand under the name maison Abdul Karim Al Faransi. Their vision was to blend the rich traditions of Arabian perfumery with a French visionary approach.
Back then, the Musk Game was underestimated, but our maison quickly established itself as a key player in the market of pure traditional perfumes. The term "Musk Game" was first introduced by our maison to define the expansive market of pure traditional perfumes, including amber, frankincense, mukhallat, musk, and oud, among others.
Specializing in Middle Eastern style fragrances, our maison quickly distinguished itself with unique qualities, offering rare and refined agarwood (oud), amber, and musk oils. The first creations of Anthony Marmin in 2014 added originality and quality that promptly lifted our maison to a reference point for niche oriental perfumeries, offering highly elegant and alternative Arabian perfumes.
The market of pure classic and traditional fragrance styles was led by very respectable brands. We quickly emerged in the Musk Game with freshness and inventiveness, bringing undeniable additional value. Our work served as an inspiration to many who entered the market through the doors we had opened.
In 2020, we took a bold step forward by rebranding as maison Anthony Marmin, cementing our legacy in the Musk Game. Our roots are Western, but our style is Eastern, creating a perfect match between both worlds. The rebranding marked a more precise direction for our maison, focusing on the art of Arabian perfumery with French elegance. This shift also highlighted our commitment to three essential pillars of Arabian perfumery: musk, oud, and amber.

Anthony Marmin - Perfumer and Founder
Anthony Marmin, also known in the world of perfumery as Abdul Karim Al Faransi, was born and raised in northern France in a typical French family. From a young age, he was surrounded by the fragrant scents of lavender and orange blossom, a cherished legacy from his mother who grew up in the quaint village of Eyragues in Provence. Roses, tulips, and violets were predominant in their household, with beautiful mounds of flowers composed of various perennials could be seen all around the house.
In 2001, Anthony's life changed when he converted to Islam and started discovering the Arabian culture. The world of Arabian perfumery then opened up to him.
By 2011, Anthony had begun collecting rare ingredients, from musk to oud, and his fascination with the art of perfume-making grew stronger while living in the heart of London. Immersed in the world of fragrance, he made it his mission to learn everything he could about creating exquisite scents.
Anthony's drive and initiative led him to become a self-taught perfumer, gaining knowledge through extensive reading, engaging in discussions with other perfumers and specialists, and visiting iconic places like Grasse. He eschewed traditional instruction in favor of a more hands-on approach, allowing him to develop a unique perspective and diverse skill set. Today, he is recognized as a niche perfumer, an expert in his field, and a true master of the art of scent.
Farhiya Bashir Hussein - Entrepreneur and Founder
Farhiya was born in Somalia, situated in the Horn of Africa. Somalia has historically been an important center for trading and commerce with the rest of the ancient world, and this business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit were inherited from her mother.
She came to Europe as a teenager, traveling and culture sharing was always part of her life. These experiences led her to develop her artistic traits, which she now shares with her husband, Anthony Marmin.
In her current role within the company, Farhiya bears a pivotal responsibility for perfume validation. Her discerning taste mirrors her own deep affection for the fragrances she curates. What captures her heart is sure to capture yours, a testament to her innate ability to discern and appreciate the finest scents.
