Firstly, I would say that this is a scent with very good longevity. In the opening I am blasted with excellent floral scents which remind me of a drink called Ruh Afza. A rose based pakistani syrup for drinks. If you are Pakistani, you will definitely know about this… guaranteed. In the base I pick up a nice dry sandalwood which matches the floral elements very well. I wouldn’t say I really pick up any oud to be honest but that may just be me going crazy about the smell of the flowers and osmanthus. I get hints of the patchouli which helps tone down the floral elements in the dry down which helps the sandalwood pop quite well on my skin. I would say that it is slightly on the feminine but men can wear it aswell.

The smell has a beautifully sexy skanky woody quality reminiscent of real rich sandalwood used on top of the patchouli. It’s all about sandalwood here and its potent!

It’s sweetened and dried by the flowers and given a powdery velvet texture by the sweetness of the osmanthus.
This is one of the first scents that made me think of a texture! Think of the smell on the inside of a case of a new instrument – a sophisticated velvety smell with a creamy oily like aroma. Now imagine that sweetened a bit and it would smell kind of like this – at least on my skin. Beautiful! Masterful, light, and sexy to be worn on a night out.

The oil is also no slouch, it stays ages on my skin. I can still smell it strong 5 hours into my wearing now. But that is no surprise as with most of what I’ve tried from this house.

  5. Muhd

This is the best perfume I have ever come across. Ever. It strikes the perfect balance between beautifully oriental but very wearable in the West imo. Warm, creamy and floral and sweet-ish. I recommend AKAF to start a Hall of Fame collection (for his best signature scents), and then place Islamabad in there as one of his best ever. Simply stunning.

here is another wonderful attar from this gifted perfumer. i keep wearing this oil so much that i will have to buy another bottle soon. the combination of notes is marvelous, but it is the deep dry-down that makes me the most happy: slightly oudy, slightly sweet and toasty sandalwood with a hint of patchouli. can’t get enough of it.

  7. Kevan

Astounding, simply astounding. One of the best sandalwood colognes I’ve ever smelled. Warm, buttery, slightly spicy, slightly floral. Honestly, if this was from a “big name”, this would be upwards of $300. From the notes, I was expecting something a bit different, but this is sandalwood shining through and through. An absolutely wonderful, regal aroma. Long-lasting, and moderately projecting. As a westerner, when you hear “Arabian perfume,” you dream of something like this. Pure luxury.

  8. N Keshwani

Very rich and long-lasting. Lasted on me all day. Highly recommended.

  9. Robert

To my mind, Islamabad is a regal and austere combination of
agarwood, sandalwood and patchouli. This is the scent I imagine a sultan or a sheik would wear. Extremely long lasting, there is no question about the quality of the ingredients used in this wonderful attar.
